Growing up in North Jersey in the eighties was pretty tough for Treach. Raised by a single mother and only meeting his father at the age of 12—before seeing him again on Couples Therapy 30 years later—he says he reached a point in his life where he was defiant and then kicked out of his home. That’s when the rapper reveals his start as a drug dealer between 16-17. In this sit-down with DJ Vlad, Treach talks about how just a regular conversation and insight from an elderly man on his block helped him and his crew avoid confrontation with police and the difference with Newark to versus when he was growing up.
