Lord Jamar on Phife Dawg’s Death, Not Being Celebrated During His Life

Hip-Hop faced a sudden devastation following the death of A Tribe Called Quest member and a pioneer of the culture, Phife Dawg. Many remembered the celebrity on social media, news reporters incorporated his lyrics during their coverage, and prominent celebrities were even in attendance for his memorial at the Apollo theatre in Harlem. While the vast acknowledgment was expected, Lord Jamar, who was also there for the memorial, believes the rapper should have been recognized and celebrated by every popular celebrity and fan during his life.

“You’ll have white Rock-n-Roll artists, they’ll pull in their heroes. They don’t give a f*** if this n**** ain’t make a record in like 40-years, they be like, ‘Yo, that’s why Iove that n****, come on I need to make a record with this n****,’ and we don’t do s*** like that.”

Phife had guest appearances. Dont know them off the top of my head but head a few. Plus his solo album was dope and that Single "Flawless" he had off that album was absolutely sick.

Shout out to the man Pfjfe but Jamars strength is his take on homosexuality. This thee only dude you hear speaking against gays and getting 100k veiws doing it. That is his calling because OBVIOUSLY seeing the veiws many of us are in agreement. We gotta support him because most of society will reject Jamar and seek to silence him. That intv on Mr Cee is classic!!!

The 1st and only Tribe album I bought was the the love movement when it 1st came out but I gave it to my cousin like a fool because it I didn't realize how good of an album it was. And then when I found out Dilla was part of Ummah productions and what resume he had I was like damn, I got to get that back. I did a few buy backs in my record collection. I just bought Q solo joints last year.

Vlad is LYING: He knows all he wanted to ask was about Tribe shit. I mean, let's keep it real; that's really why people would watch the joint in the first place. People want to hear about the breakup, etc. Besides, Vlad knows what sells: CONTROVERSY!

the part where he spoke on how the RnR dudes will have an older musical rock with them as opposed to hip hop where artist don't fuck with older artist because they not relevant…..that is probably the truest and most sad part of hip hop

And let me say this, we know Phife is one of the best with the lyrics but all eyes were on Tip because he was the star. That shit is nothing new. It's like Leaders Of The New School, they had great lyricists but Busta Rhymes became the star because of his personality or N.W.A., everyone remembers Cube & Eazy because they have that presence and of course Dre. with the beats but M.C. Ren & Yella were almost forgotten because they were just there. Digital Underground but who became the breakout star, 2PAC. You see where I'm going here? It happens all the time with music groups. The media & the fans will go after the star and will ignore the other members of the group. And Vlad that was cool you wanted to talk to Phife but you passed on the interview since you didn't want to talk about Tribe. O.K. Vlad, add yourself on the list of people that didn't want to put Phife on too.

Vlad talk about other rappers didn't want to fuck with Phife but you passed the interview with him since he didn't want to talk about Tribe. Can we say hypocrisy folks?

some niggaz lying like they was on phife, yeah. but the dude did get love all over. when niggaz sad that phife dead, its genuine. the dude was apart of one of the most legendary groups in history, but his solo career was pretty lacklustre. thats why you aint hear phife on guest shots, and niggaz reachin out like that. thats HIS fault niggaz wasnt on him like that. not to mention, phife wasnt top tier lyrically. but he was still dope, and he left his mark and he will be missed.
